Tirta Ayu is one of two former palaces in
rural Bali, the places had western-style amenities like private bathrooms, making
guests more comfortable than most other lodgings in rural Bali.
Octagonal
shaped and roughly 1,000 square feet in size, it had tinted
glass doors on six sides that opened to create an open-air living
room. Furnished with an ikat (woven tie-dyed fabric) floor covering,
low octagonal table and giant batik cushions, the room faced
a private terrace surrounded by a small garden.
