Location
Amankila is located on a private beachfront plateau between two headlands is
eastern Bali. The resort rises near the villages of Candi Dasa and Padang Bai, the port to
Lombok Island. Most suites are elevated to take advantage of the spectacular views of the
Indian Ocean and surrounding hillsides.
Accommodation
Amankila's 35 free standing suites were designed as Cliffside beach houses, with
a subtle twist. They respond, in a discreet way, to their East Bali surroundings. They
were influences in particular, by Ujung, the royal water palace whose grand remains spread
across a valley just outside Amlapura, the area's capital.
Amankila offers several accommodation
options for family and friends traveling together. Aside from the Amankila Suite which
includes two separate bedroom pavilions, three of the pool suites connect to superior
suites. In addition, a fourth pool suite is linked to a deluxe suite
Activities
Water sport: a three tiered swimming pool is adjacent
to the main building, with the beach a five minute walk or drive
down the path way. The Beach Club has its own 45 meter lap pool.
Complimentary snorkeling equipment, windsurfing and Hobby Cat
sailing are available on the beach.
Trekking
: Eastern Bali is blessed with some of the finest trekking on
the island, ranging from walks through rural villages, tropical
forests and terraced rice fields, to mountain climbs and temple
treks. Amankila's guides know the area well.
Touring
: A hypnotic mix of religion, royal culture and architectural
splendor rises in East Bali, an area often referred to as the"old
Bali". Here, too Karangasem's last raja built his water
palaces: Tirtagangga, now a public bathing area; and Ujung,
a grand ruin that, even today, manages to convey the extravagant
sweep of kingly ambition.
